Who is Stanley Mason?

He is a kid with magical powers. I can't believe you didn't know that!

Actually I don't believe he has magical powers. I think he just has a bunch of magical friends in the forest and finds a gate, hence the name of the book. Also on a side note, I don't think he's very good at Kung-Fu.

Wasn't he like a country singer or something?

Stanley is a 13 year old boy who recently woke up in hospital and couldn't remember who he was or why he was there. He is tall with shaggy blond hair with an easy going countenance but he is haunted by strange dreams of dark places and scary creatures. The first person he meets after waking up is Bethany Florence who is his roomy in the hospital. Strangely enough she is suffering from the same memory loss and is having similar dreams. Unfortunately he doesn't like her very much because she is a quite loopy and can be a bit sulky at times.
