The Everblack (G'herneboh)

The realm of darkness, known to most as G'herneboh or Ghern for short. The etymology of the name is most likely derived from the Slavic god of black, Zherneboh. It is a land shrouded in an unending blackness that whispers fear into the hearts of even the most stoic of men. It's baron moonscape is littered with boulders and razor sharp rocks. The icy air carries an unearthly stench of death and rotting flesh, stealing the breath from your lungs the moment it touches your lips. There's almost no plant life or fresh water to be found. The only source of hydration is from natural mud springs, many purvey the stink of sulphur and are poisonous to humans. However, the water and heat generated by these springs has been the catalyst for life in Ghern allowing animals and creatures to survive and evolve over millennia. Sparsely scattered beasts of all forms roam this wasteland using an assortment of honed tentacles, feelers and sound waves to navigate and forage for food. Bottom feeders like rock-worms, bone-beetles and black shale mites consume minerals laced with proteins deposited by bacteria in the mud springs.

Due to the absence of light, many creatures in Ghern have evolved with no eyes. They rely on touch, smell and sound to find their food. However, wild dogs known as Quabbs have developed a sort of bio-luminescent bulb that dangles over their head similar to the deep sea Angler fish. This allows them to hunt by sight, but not very well. As useful as a glowing dangling bulb may be, the fact that it hangs directly in front of their eyes is just as much a hindrance. Its like trying to find your way in a dark room with a torch pointing right in your face. None-the-less in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king... and in this case, its the dog with the semi-blinding light shining in it's eye.

G'herneboh is void of most intelligent life forms, but on occasion its been used as a place of hiding for those desperately fleeing from war and persecution. Though, due to the brutality of the landscape and the predatory wildlife you would not want to spend too long sightseeing in this hellish hole.

Is there a dessert planet like Tatooine? Or what about a forest planet like Endor?
